The nominees for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2017 also include Chaka Khan, Depeche Mode, Journey, Jane's Addiction and Pearl Jam.
Candidates for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in New York City this coming April are announced. Janet Jackson and the late Tupac Shakur are among the nominees. Consisting of a total of 19 music acts, the list is deemed most diverse ballots in history.
They are Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, Chic, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, J. Geils Band, Jane's Addiction, Joan Baez, Joe Tex, Journey, Kraftwerk, MC5, Pearl Jam, Steppenwolf, The Cars, The Zombies and Yes.
"You get nasty letters," President/CEO of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Joel Peresman said of the challenge of overseeing the nomination. "But you love to see the passion people have for their favorite act - 'How come this one isn't nominated or that one?' That passion fuels the process."
