Watch Bloom's Rebecca Bunch literally become a cactus as she sings 'Love Kernels' in the clip from upcoming episode 'Where Is Josh's Friend?'.
Rachel Bloom delivers her take on Beyonce Knowles' "Lemonade" in a new music video for "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" season 2. In contrary to Bey who wanted to depict "woman's journey of self-knowledge and healing" with the visual album, Bloom's character Rebecca Bunch hints at how she's still clinging to her childhood crush Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III).
"I'm like a sexy fashion cactus, living from compliment to compliment... hint to hint. Storing them in my body for a long period of drought," she narrates the video Beyonce-style. "But how do I know he loves me? I guess the only way to prove it is with abstract symbolism," she continues, before singing "Love Kernels".
The music video, which was debuted via EW, will be featured in the season 2 premiere titled "Where Is Josh's Friend?". It will air Friday, October 21 at 9 P.M. ET on The CW.
In season 2, Rebecca, who has been following Josh, turns into a newly assertive person who is thoroughly convinced that she and Josh are destined to be together. "The idea of the show is tracking the stages of love and obsession and rejection," explains Bloom, who co-created the series along with Aline Brosh McKenna.
"We always imagined the show in four sections: the first one was denial, the second one is certainty," she adds. McKenna chimes in, "It's a different approach to Josh Chan. Josh Chan represents happiness and an ideal vision she has of her life, so she went from denying that she was on a quest for happiness to deciding to go for it."
