The MTV reality star was found unresponsive at a friend's house after years of struggling with substance abuse.
MTV reality star Valerie Fairman is dead. According to TMZ, the former "16 and Pregnant" star was found unresponsive in a locked bathroom of a friend's house in Coatesville, Pennsylvania Wednesday, December 21.
Fairman was only 23. She was a mother of 7-year-old daughter Nevaeh Lynn Fairman. The cause of her death was still unknown pending toxicology tests. Her struggle with substance abuse was documented on season 2 of the MTV show.
"We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman's passing," an MTV spokesperson said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time." Her extended family on the network also sent their prayers. "How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and family," tweeted "Teen Mom 2" star Chelsea Houska.
Another Teen Mom Jenelle Evans responded, "This really upsets me. Thanks for letting me know. I told her to stay on track." She added, "Don't take life for granted. Hold your children and love them close."
