According to his death certificate, the late actor passed away at a hospital on Tuesday, December 13 at 2:14 P.M., just minutes after his aorta ruptured.
More details about Alan Thicke's death have emerged. According to his death certificate released Wednesday, December 21, the actor died of a "ruptured aorta" and a "standard type A aortic dissection." He passed away on Tuesday, December 13 just minutes after his aorta, the main artery that pumps blood to and from the heart to the other parts of the body, ruptured.
His time of death was listed as 2:14 P.M. As previously reported, Thicke was playing a game of hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter at a skating rink in Burbank, California earlier in the day. He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead there.
Thicke's sudden passing came as a huge surprise not only to his family, but also to his fellow actors. His co-stars on "Fuller House" as well as "Growing Pains", the '80s sitcom that catapulted him into superstardom, immediately took to social media to pay tribute to him.
A bunch of other famous faces like Kirk Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bob Saget, Bill Maher and Alex Trebek also showed up at Thicke's memorial service held on Sunday, December 18 at the late actor and his wife Tanya Callau's home in Carpinteria, California, near Santa Barbara. Also in attendance were his ex-wifes Gloria Loring and Gina Tolleson.
Following the memorial, which was arranged by Thicke's R&B singer son Robin Thicke, Callau remembered her husband and thanked everyone for their support as she spoke out on his death for the first time on Tuesday.
"It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time," she said in a statement. "Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke. Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning."
Also breaking her silence that day was Thicke's former daughter-in-law Paula Patton. The actress, Robin Thicke's ex-wife, shared on Instagram a photo of Thicke and wrote in the caption. "I knew Alan since I was 15 years old and he had a tremendous effect on my life."
"I loved and respected him so much! So many great memories and laughs together. We will miss him so much!" she continued, adding that her and Robin's son Julian "is quite sure he is still here with us in spirit."
