The 'Trainwreck' star will play a character who goes on a journey of self discovery after she is exiled from the Barbieland for not being good enough.
Amy Schumer is in negotiations for a major role in the upcoming live-action take on Mattel's popular toy line "Barbie". The "Trainwreck" actress is also expected to help with the script, re-writing an existing script with her sister Kim Caramele.
The Comedy Central comedienne is expected to play a character who gets kicked out of the perfect Barbieland because she doesn't quite fit the mold. After she's exiled, she sets a journey to the real world and eventually discovers that being unique is an asset.
Sony is aiming for a family comedy that's reminiscent of classic films like "Splash" and "Big". The studio is now actively searching for a director. "Me Before You" helmer Thea Sharrock is reportedly among the contenders, but she's not available.
