Ryan Seacrest Trapped in Elevator in Times Square Ahead New Year's Eve Bash

The 'New Year's Rockin' Eve' host is locked inside an elevator with a group of people while he's on his way to 'Good Morning America'.

Ryan Seacrest was supposed to unveil the the New Year's Eve Ball on "Good Morning America", but he was delayed due to an unexpected incident. The "New Year's Rockin' Eve" host was locked inside an elevator in Times Square while he was on his way to the "GMA" studio.

"Hi from underneath the ball in Times Square," he said in an Instagram video. "We're stuck in the elevator, everybody! We're supposed to be on Good Morning America, but we can't get there." He added in the caption, "What a way to kick off the morning."

The "American Idol" presenter was trapped in the narrow space with his assistant and "GMA" producers. They were stuck for 40 minutes before being rescued by New York City Fire Department. "Stuck in the elevator on the way up to the ball," he posted a picture from the elevator.

"I will tell you this, if you've ever been stuck in an elevator, it's funny and cute for about 10 minutes," he also joked on social media. "And then about 20 minutes in, it's not so funny anymore. But thank you to the fire department who came and rescued us and pried those doors open."
