Sarah Jeffery lands a role as the youngest of the three witch sisters, Madison Halliwell, on the new 'Charmed' TV series.
On the reboot, Madison is described as to be more concerned about her college life than being a witch. She finds that being a witch means covering her magical side while entering a "super-fun" sorority.
Sarah, who is the second to be cast on the reboot, recently starred as Jennifer Lopez's daughter, Cristina Santos, on "Shades of Blue". However, as reported by Deadline, she can still appear in up to four episodes of the NBC drama series as a guest star.
The CW ordered a new pilot to the reboot last January. Written by Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin, the upcoming reboot was said to be "fierce, funny, feminist reboot of the original series."
It focuses on the three Halliwell sisters in college town who find themselves to be the most powerful good witches of all time. Each sister possesses unique magical power which can grow and evolve. They use the "Power of Three" to protect the innocents from evil beings like demons and warlocks. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy, and maintaining familial bonds, a witch's work is never done.
The original "Charmed" series aired for eight seasons from 1998-2006. This series starred Shannen Doherty as Prue Halliwell, Holly Marie Combs as Piper Halliwell, and Alyssa Milano as Phoebe Halliwell, while Rose McGowan joined the series later as Paige Mathews, their younger half-sister. Worldvision Enterprises, Inc. became the distributor in 1998-1999 and was replaced by Paramount Domestic Television for the period of 1999-2005. Eventually, CBS Television Distribution became the distributor from then until the last season in 2006.
On the original TV series, "Charmed" began with the youngest sister returning to the family's Halliwell Manor in San Fransisco and living with her other sisters, Prue and Piper Halliwell. There, she found out that they were great witches. During the first two seasons, the sisters faced various evil creatures repeatedly. In the third season, the eldest sister was killed by Shax, the Underworld's demonic ruler's personal assassin.
