Tiffany Haddish Joins 'The Lego Movie Sequel' Cast

The 'Girls Trip' actress will lend her voice for 'The Lego Movie Sequel' which is written by 'The Lego Movie' directors.

Tiffany Haddish has sealed the deal to voice a character in Warner Bros. Animations' "The Lego Movie Sequel". She will join other cast members who have been tapped to lend their voices for the animated movie. However, the character that she will voice is still unknown.

In the sequel, Christ Pratt will return as the master builder Emmet Brickowoski and Wyldstyle will once again be voiced by Elizabeth Banks. Meanwhile, Channing Tatum and Will Arnett will voice Superman and Batman, respectively.

"Trolls" director Mike Mitchell has been tapped to direct the animated movie. "The Lego Movie" directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be the producers along with Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Meanwhile, Jill Wilfert from Lego Group, Chris McKay and Jinko Gotoh will executive produce.

The movie is written in three drafts. The first draft was penned by the former directors of "The Lego Movie". Raphael Bob-Waksberg re-wrote the script that was continued by Matt Fogel for the latest draft. The plots and details are kept under wraps.

The film production is underway after it was delayed for nine months due to an unspecified reason. However, the film has been dated for a February 8, 2019 release in the U.S.

Tiffany has been on the rise since playing Dina in Universal's comedy "Girls Trip". She will be seen on TBS' "The last O.G.", which debuts on April 3, as the main cast, starring opposite Tracy Morgan. She will also be seen on the wide screen in "Night School" starring opposite Kevin Hart. The movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on September 28.

In addition to performing in movies, she is a TV star. She even had her own show entitled "Tiffany Haddish: She Ready! From the Hood to Hollywood". She also hosted "Saturday Night Live" in "Tiffany Haddish/Taylor Swift" episode. She will lend her voice for upcoming show titled "Tuca & Bertie", on which she will also be serving as executive producer. In addition, she was featured in Jay-Z's "Moonlight" music video.

She was nominated several times for her role in "Girls Trip", including Best Actress in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 Critics' Choice Movie Awards. Still for her role in the movie, she won the African-American Film Critics Association Award, the Black Reel Award, the NAACP Image Award, the New York Film Critics Circle Award and the American Black Film Festival Rising Icon Award for Best Supporting Actress in the same year.
