AMAs 2016: Drake and Twenty One Pilots Are Among Early Winners

Drizzy takes home Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for his 'Views', while Twenty One Pilots is honored with Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award.

The 2016 American Music Awards has officially started. Bruno Mars kicked off the event hosted by Gigi Hadid and Jay Pharoah at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with a performance of his latest hit "24K Magic".

Afterwards, "Hidden Figures" stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae took the stage to announce the first AMA winner that night. The trio presented the Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock Award to Twenty One Pilots.

Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough later presented Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album to Drake for his record "Views". The "Hotline Bling" hitmaker pushed aside Future and Fetty Wap. He has a chance to win more gongs in 9 other categories including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year.
