Perrie Edwards Takes Major Slam at Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid in Original 'Shout to My Ex' Lyrics

Perrie, who was left 'heartbroken' after Zayn dumped her via a text message, takes a direct swipe at her former fiance and his model girlfriend in the first, uncensored lyrics of the Little Mix hit.

The original lyrics of Little Mix's new hit "Shout Out to My Ex" have been unveiled. In the first, uncensored lyrics of the breakup song, Perrie Edwards takes a major slam at Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid.

The released song include lyrics like, "Heard he in love with some other chick/ Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I'll admit/ Forget that boy, I'm over it." However, the original lyrics were, "Heard he been f***ing some model chick/ Yeah that s**t hurt, I'll admit/ But f**k that boy, I'm over it."

In an interview with News.Au, Little Mix says creating "Shout Out to My Ex" was cathartic. Perrie explains the explicit lyrics, "We had to make it clean. We didn't want to have the parental advisory sticker on our albums and singles. Even though our fans are our age, 20 or over 18, we still have a lot of young fans. But it does feel good to swear, doesn't it?"

"It makes you feel empowered," Jesy Nelson says, "I wish this song had been around when I broke up with my ex. It doesn't make you feel sad after a break up, you feel good." Leigh-Anne Pinnock shares, "I want this to be one of those songs you remember for years and years. I think it can be that."

Perrie admits the band knew media were looking for references to her split from Zayn through the lyrics. "Once upon a time we might have worried about that but we write songs to make people feel good," she shares, "I listen to Anastacia's lyrics and they're amazing. It's nice to think we're doing that for other people. There's nothing better than people saying 'Change Your Life' changed their life. Women are coming up saying 'Shout Out to My Ex' is making them feel better that they don't need their ex."
