Archie is accused of murder and his father thinks he's lying to someone as Archie tries to keep his relationship with his teacher a secret.
"Welcome to a town where everything is perfect, but nothing is as it seems," so reads a caption for a new trailer of "Riverdale", The CW's take on Archie Comics. The new promo video gives an extended look at the lives of some teenagers in the fictional titular town in the aftermath of the death of Jason Blossom, a popular local teen.
Dark secrets are threatended to be uncovered as the trailer teases Archie's (KJ Apa) complicated relationships with his music teacher Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel), his longtime admirer Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and new love interest Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes). "You're a little more dangerous than you look," Veronica says to Archie, before they make out.
Archie is involved in a brawl with his longtime nemesis and town prankster Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler), who accuses him of a murder. Meanwhile, Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) is seen asking his son Archie, "Who are you lying to?"
"Riverdale" offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. As a new school year begins, the town of Riverdale is reeling from the recent, tragic death of high school golden boy Jason Blossom - and nothing feels the same.
The live-action series also stars Cole Sprouse as Archie's slacker friend Jughead Jones, Ashleigh Murray as Josie of Josie and the Pussycats fame, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, the sister of the slained Jason. It is set to premiere on January 26, 2017 on The CW.
